I provide solutions to establish an online presence or to improve an existing one - from website design/redesign to site evaluations and consulting. I have worked on an array of sites ranging from academic and informational to marketing and e-commerce, including blogs, landing pages and microsites.
I design websites that are clear and easy to understand and I bring a solid combination of skills to the digital projects on which I work. My approach to web design is to separate information design from visual design, first focussing on the structure (IA = information architecture), content and functionality of a website and then its look and feel, as well as visual appeal.
With an educational background in library science, I also have experience with web content management and digital asset management (DAM), including taxonomy and controlled vocabulary creation and establishing metadata strategy and guidelines.
I strategize on website and application enhancements and I am in tune with the ever-changing landscape of the Web. I have experience working with various proprietary and open source CMS applications.
My formal education includes a Master of Information Studies (MISt) from the University of Toronto and Interactive Multimedia from Sheridan College.
I have been employed in the areas of web design and planning, marketing/online marketing, as well as working in an academic library setting as a Web & Digital Services Librarian. Currently I work as a freelance front-end web designer & developer.
